Though it features an enormous cast of characters, the focus of the film is set between two conflicts: Max vs. Secret Life focuses on the importance of friendship, acceptance, and finding a home – all worthy lessons for children, but executed far better by Pixar and Disney.

Secret Life is a perfect kids’ movie it’s light, silly, sweet, and contains no potential danger or disaster. That is not to say it isn’t entertaining and fun. The Secret Life of Pets, unfortunately, is not one of those films. It’s the rare children’s movie that offers unexpected surprises, that tugs at the heartstrings, and that entertains and delights children of all ages. The cast is rounded out by a supporting cast of canines, felines, and avians voiced by such comedic talent as Jenny Slate, Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, Dana Carvey, Steve Coogan, Bobby Moynihan, and Albert Brooks. While working out their differences they find themselves being chased by, not only New York Animal Control, but also The Gang of Flushed Pets, a pet posse led by the human-hating, slightly insane rabbit Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart). The story centers on Max (voiced by Louis C.K.) who is unhappy to find his life upended when his owner brings home a new pet, Duke (voiced by Eric Stonestreet). The Secret Life of Pets offers exactly what you expect from a summer kids’ movie – jokes, a hearty moral, and a happy ending. In their latest animated adventure, the studio minds behind the Minions posit that there’s an unknown underbelly just waiting to be scratched. When most pets get to their home, Norman keeps finding his apartment, and he finally finds the right place and remove a guinea pig toy his owner has. He is later taken to Brooklyn Bridge and is at a tail of a snake when The Flushed Pets are about to attack Max he later cheers with other animals for the rescue of Max, Duke, and Snowball and goes home in Tattoo's taxi. However, Norman is not afraid, and he even says, "Good for you guys!" to The Flushed Pets and hits high-five with Derick. Norman gets into a pipe and get out at another end, thinking himself is safe, but he is caught by Derick through his mouth. But they are regarded as the friends of Max, so they are almost caught by The Flushed Pets. Norman follows the pets to find Pops and then follow them to Snowball's lair in the sewer. Not until Gidget tells Tiberius to stop, Tiberius regards Norman as prey. Later on, he enters Gidget's apartment and agrees to her plan of finding missing Max, only to find out that he is at another wrong apartment and gets caught by Tiberius. As Duke is about to catch Norman, Norman screams and luckily was able to escape from Duke. Later, when Duke is eating from Max's bowl, he senses someone enters the apartment, only to discover it is Norman, who is upset to find Max's Apartment again, so Duke runs to the door because he thought Norman is a rodent. Norman first appears in Max's apartment and asks Max what is his owner's house number, but Max says he doesn't know and Norman doesn't live in his apartment, so Norman leaves.
